Z1 Frontier / Pathfinder / Xterra VQ40 Billet Heater Hose Inlet

It was time for me to change my coolant in my 2022 Frontier, so I took the opportunity to replace a common failure point. Being a billet, it is high quality. The bleeder screw made it very easy to bleed the system.

Seems fine, I do with they made one for body lifted Frontiers as it does have some stress on it after the body lift, it's rather rigid and not flexible, but so far it's held up.

Looks good, will install later.

One of those parts that you never notice or think about but it does give me peace of mind that I won’t get stranded when out in remote areas. Plus billet just looks cool.

Bought this as a “while I’m in there” because I had to drain coolant for another fix. Good thing I did! Even though the stock piece hadn’t failed yet it crumbled apart as I removed the factory piece. I would most definitely have been left stranded had I not changed this out proactively. Must buy!

Better the the oem. Simply done yet top quality engineering.

I had the oem one explode, great replacement. Do it if you still have the original one on your system. Then you will never have to worry about it.

I replaced the inlet today and got the Dorman 626-598 outlet hose assembly. As soon as I started to remove the inlet and outlet, the plastics on both began to crumble and disintegrate. Glad I did this as it could have broke at any time. No more plastics and all metal. This combo is solid, Thanks Z1 Off-Road!!!

Worth its weight in gold for peace of mind when you travel like I do and don’t want to get stranded on a piece of plastic cracking.

Replaced this along with hoses and clamps. 12 year old Frontier getting a parts refresh. This item is well manufactured, The price might seem high, but you can tell where the money was spent on the billet aluminum. Sticker overload with all the parts coming in.

Perfect fit, quick and easy swap out of the inferior part that comes with the vehicle. Highly recommend this one to anybody that has a Nissan Xterra, as their OEM part will be failing if it has not already.

Almost 2 years installed and without problems, this is the solution to replace the crappy oem plastic

I bought 2 of these for my daughters XTerra’s, one is a 2008, the other a 2010. I bought them after the 2010 blew the heater core outlet pipe. I installed one this weekend on the 2010. I removed the old plastic part and the end where the hose and hose clamp were at broke off inside the hose. I was thankful I changed the part, the 2008 will be changed next. The bleed port is the cats meow, super easy to bleed the system. I give this part 10 stars👍🏿🇺🇸🇺🇸

Another must have from Z1. I feel much more confident on my Xterra with the flimsy plastic inlet hose being replaced with this one. The part is sturdy and solid, makes bleeding the system simple.

Looks great. Nice having a bleed at the top if need be. I found just overfilling the expansion tank an inch or so solves any air in the system issues. Shipping was uber fast. They already had it shipping the morning after I ordered (which I'd done around 2300 my time, west coast). It was at my door two days later. From the USA to Canada was quick, quick, quick!

So glad someone made an upgraded version of this! Easy replacement for a commonly broken part!

Used in conjunction with dorman 626-598 to clear out all the delicate plastics in the cooling system. bleeder valve was a wonderful time saver

After my heater pipe blew, replaced the entire cooling system. This is a must have.

This was a no brainer when doing my cooling system overhaul this past summer. Fit was perfect, and made bleeding the system even easier. 10 out of 10 on this one boys. You knocked it out of the park.

I haven't installed the part yet, but this was recommended to me by a Nissan engineer of one of the parts to have on hand or replace. So, now I just need to get it installed!

This is brilliant and if you pair this with Dorman part 626-598 it basically makes the 4.0 bullet proof. Between the 2 items it removes all the plastic from the cooling system that is prone to breaking. The bleeder built is also a nice touch and so much easier then the various other methods used to bleed the cooling system IMO this is a must have upgrade for the Frontier 4.0.

Worked great on my 2010 Xterra, my goal was to pre-emptively replace the crappy plastic OEM parts with this inlet and the metal dorman outlet assembly, as well as do a drain and fill of the coolant. Here is how I used this inlet (I am not a professional mechanic, use these tips at your own risk): - Ensure vehicle is level and engine cold / cool - Drain coolant by removing the drain plug on the radiator - Take off radiator cap - Once drained, remove the inlet (and in my case, outlet assembly) - Note: I had to use a razor blade on the factory inlet hose to get it off - Install new inlet (and in my case, outlet assembly) - Ensure radiator drain plug is back in place - Open the bleeder valve on the heater hose (it just needs to be open enough to allow air to escape) and put a shop towel under it as a little coolant will seep out - Add coolant to the radiator (I used Nissan 50/50 blue) and watch both the filler neck of the radiator as well as the bleeder valve on the inlet - When coolant starts to come out of the bleeder valve, close it - Keep filling until radiator is completely full - Gently squeeze the radiator hose on the left side of the radiator to get air bubbles out (this will be repeated throughout the process) - Ensure coolant reservoir is filled to the max cold line. - Start engine with radiator cap off, let it run until reaches operator temperature so that the thermostat opens - Squeeze radiator hose again 10 times to get bubbles out, slowly rev engine to 2500rpm and hold for 5 seconds, do this 5 times - Turn off engine, wait 5 min, add more coolant to full. Replace radiator cap. - Check radiator level (while cold) and monitor the reservoir over the next few days and add more as needed. I think there is a way to more efficiently use this bleeder valve than I did, but it seemed to work.

Well-made product, easy to install. Unfortunately, no information was provided on how to incorporate the bleeder into the process of bleeding the air from the system, and an email to the company only received a suggestion to "take it to a professional mechanic."

This is a great upgrade for Nissan frontier and also a very easy to install highly recommended

I decided to change this preemptively rather than waiting on the plastic one to crack, and I'm so glad that I don't have to risk the stock plastic inlet failing now. The build quality is very good, and the addition of the bleeder makes it so much easier to ensure that you get ALL of the air out of the cooling system and heater core when servicing the cooling system.10/10 would buy again.

Heavily built, and much better then the plastic part it replaced. Bought for the bleed as the OE plastic can be removed and the hose connected directly to the connection at the fire wall. Nissans plastic is not necessary as all, just a bomb waiting to go off. Bill

Easy install. Way worth it !!!

This is a great idea. Eliminates a common problem with the Nissan's. Now all we need is someone to make a upper intake manifold so it would be easier to change spark plugs.

Just the fact that this makes bleeding the cooling system so darn easy makes is worth the price. Just back our the screw a few turns and the groove in the threads allow trapped air out without removing the screw all the way. when coolant seeps out tighten screw and job done, Installs easily and It's obviously vastly stronger than a cheapo plastic fitting. I go out in the boonies and want nothing to go wrong. one more way to bullet-proof my xterra.

A must on these trucks the plastic piece always breaks. This will never break!

Perfect fit , the shop that installed this also put a radiator and another piece in thus replacing the plastic heater hose fitting's in a 15 year old Xterra . They were happy with the bleed valve . As with anything time will be the real test ; but as of right now I would recommend !!
