To validate the performance of our pan, we took our GR86 to Atlanta Motorsports Park, a moderate-speed technical road course, and monitored oil pressure to see what was actually happening in the engine. The scatter graphs below show the oil pressure changes over a single lap, and establish a worrisome trend. 

The graph below illustrates oil pressure throughout a lap using the factory oil pan with the standard oil fill level. During straight-line acceleration, oil pressure remained relatively stable at approximately 60 psi. However, under sustained lateral G-forces, oil pressure repeatedly dropped to as low as 14 psi as oil moved away from the pickup. These pressure losses occurred consistently throughout the session, including during high-RPM cornering where engine loads are greatest. Under these conditions, reduced oil pressure can compromise the lubricating oil film between critical engine components, accelerating wear on bearings and other heavily loaded rotating assemblies.

Some enthusiasts have suggested overfilling the engine oil as a way to reduce oil pressure loss during high-G cornering, so we wanted to validate that theory as part of our testing. While increasing the oil level by 0.5L did improve the results compared to the factory fill level, it did not eliminate the problem. Under the same cornering conditions, oil pressure still dropped to as low as 18 psi. Although this represents an improvement over the baseline, it remains well below the pressure observed under normal operating conditions. Repeated exposure to these low-pressure events can reduce the oil film protecting critical engine components, substantially increasing wear on bearings and other heavily loaded rotating assemblies.

To further evaluate the effectiveness of overfilling, we increased the oil level by a full 1.0 liter over the factory specification, closely matching the additional capacity provided by the TEQSPORT Oil Pan. If oil capacity alone were the solution, this test should have produced a significant improvement in oil pressure stability. Instead, the results closely mirrored our previous tests. Under the same cornering conditions, oil pressure still dropped to 19 psi, only a 1 psi improvement over the 0.5-liter overfill test. While additional oil volume provided a modest benefit, it did not address the root cause of the pressure loss. The factory oil pan simply lacks the oil control necessary to keep the pickup supplied during sustained high-G cornering.

With our baseline testing complete, it was time to evaluate the TEQSPORT Active-Baffled Oil Pan. The pan was installed and tested under the same conditions as the previous three laps, allowing for a direct comparison against the factory oil pan.

The results were exactly what we had engineered the pan to achieve. Oil pressure remained remarkably stable throughout the lap, including in the same corner where the factory oil pan had previously dropped to just 14 psi. Instead, the TEQSPORT Oil Pan maintained approximately 61 psi through that section of the track, demonstrating that the pickup remained consistently supplied with oil despite the sustained lateral loading.

Across the entire lap, the lowest oil pressure observed was 49 psi, a dramatic improvement over every previous test. Rather than chasing oil pressure with additional oil capacity alone, the active baffling system effectively controlled oil movement within the pan, keeping the pickup submerged when the factory design could not. The result was consistent oil delivery, greater confidence behind the wheel, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your engine is receiving the lubrication it needs when driving conditions become demanding.
