The factory intake on the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma was engineered to balance cost, packaging, noise, and everyday drivability. While effective for a stock truck, the single fresh-air inlet and airflow path become a restriction as airflow demand increases, limiting the amount of cool outside air available to the turbocharger.
The TEQSPORT Performance Cold Air Intake was designed to remove those limitations while maintaining the benefits of a sealed cold-air system. A large roto-molded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) airbox houses a massive washable dry media filter, providing exceptional airflow, excellent filtration, and outstanding resistance to heat and underhood abuse. A clear snap-in inspection window makes it easy to monitor filter condition without disassembly.
The Design
Unlike the factory intake, which draws fresh air exclusively from an inlet positioned above and forward of the radiator core support, the TEQSPORT airbox introduces a second fresh-air source by opening the airbox to the driver's side fender. Combined with our high-flow thermoformed air guide, the system is able to draw from multiple cool-air sources, increasing the volume of air available to the turbocharger while reducing inlet restriction under heavy load. Less restriction means the turbocharger builds boost more quickly, works more efficiently throughout the RPM range, and has greater airflow available as power demands increase. On our dyno, the TEQSPORT Performance Cold Air Intake produced gains of up to 18 wheel horsepower and 25 lb-ft of wheel torque, with even greater improvements observed on some vehicles depending on supporting modifications.
PS: This additional fender-side inlet wasn't added solely to improve airflow today. It was intentionally engineered as the foundation for the upcoming TEQSPORT Snorkel System. Rather than replacing your intake when you're ready for additional capability, the snorkel will integrate directly with the TEQSPORT airbox, creating a modular induction system that can evolve alongside your truck. The TEQSPORT Snorkel will also feature an EPDM rubber plug for the primary inlet, letting you draw air ONLY through the snorkel when traveling off-road. One Intake. Two Performance Paths.
Not every truck owner has the same goals. Some want a simple bolt-on upgrade that requires no tuning, while others are building high-output trucks with custom calibration and upgraded turbochargers. Rather than forcing a compromise, the TEQSPORT Performance Cold Air Intake is available with two inlet tube options.
Standard Intake Tube = No Tune Required
The standard intake tube retains the factory dimensions around the MAF sensor, allowing the ECU to measure airflow exactly as it was designed. This provides a true plug-and-play installation with no calibration changes required while still benefiting from the larger airbox, increased fresh-air capacity, and high-flow filter.
Whether your truck is completely stock or equipped with additional TEQSPORT upgrades, the standard tube delivers improved airflow, faster turbo response, and increased performance without the need for ECU tuning.

High-Flow Intake Tube = Tune Required
For customers seeking maximum airflow, the optional High-Flow Intake Tube increases the MAF housing size to reduce restriction even further. Because this changes the airflow characteristics measured by the MAF sensor, ECU calibration is required to properly rescale the MAF.
TEQSPORT tuning fully supports this configuration, allowing the larger intake tube to deliver additional airflow capacity for higher horsepower applications and upgraded turbochargers while maintaining factory-like drivability. Visit the product page to learn more about TEQSPORT tunes.
