The Tacoma's Sheet-Molded Composite (SMC) bed is durable and corrosion-resistant, but excessive flex can become a serious issue. The composite material is known to crack when subjected to enough repeated or concentrated stress, particularly around the rear of the bed and tailgate area. Rough off-road terrain, heavy cargo, and weight carried on the bed rails can all increase the load on this area, leading to bed damage and tailgate misalignment.
TEQSPORT Bed Stiffeners reinforce this area of the bed to reduce flex and distribute loads more evenly through the surrounding structure. Constructed from 5mm thick steel, they provide substantial reinforcement without relying on the composite bed alone to handle these loads.
A durable two-stage powdercoat protects the steel from corrosion in harsh climates and off-road environments. Integrated tie-down points also provide additional options for securing cargo in the bed.
